Privacy Policy

The short version

SimplyHA collects the minimum amount of information we need to run this website and to send emails to people who sign up for them. We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with advertisers. We use a small set of tools (analytics, email, web hosting) that are industry-standard for running a site like this.

If you want the long version, read on. If you ever have a question about your data, email us at [hello@simplyha.com] and a real person will write back.

What we collect and why

Site analytics. When you visit SimplyHA, we collect basic traffic information: which pages you viewed, which country you’re in, what kind of device you used, and how you got here (search, social, direct, etc.). We use this to understand which articles are working and which aren’t. We use Google Analytics. We do not tie this data to your identity.

Email signups. If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address and store it with our email provider, MailerLite. We use it to send you new articles and occasional updates. We don’t share your email with anyone. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.

Contact form submissions. If you send us a message through our contact form, we collect your name, your email address, and whatever you wrote in the message. We use this to reply to you. We keep these messages in our email inbox so we can reference the conversation later.

Comments (if enabled). If we turn on comments in the future, we’ll store your name and email along with what you wrote. Your email will never be displayed publicly.

What we don’t collect

We don’t collect your street address, your phone number, your date of birth, your location beyond country-level, your Home Assistant configuration, or anything else we don’t need. If a page doesn’t ask for it, we don’t have it.

Cookies

We use cookies for two things: keeping you logged in if you ever have an account here (not currently a feature), and making our analytics work. That’s it. Your browser lets you block or clear cookies at any time.

Third-party services

Running a website requires a handful of vendors. Here’s ours:

  • Web hosting: HostGator. They handle the servers this site runs on.
  • Email delivery: HostGator. They handle newsletter delivery.
  • Analytics: GA4. They handle traffic measurement.
  • Form spam protection: Akismet. They check submissions to block bots.

Each of these vendors has its own privacy policy. We’ve picked them because their practices are reasonable for this kind of site.

Your rights

You can ask us, at any time, to:

  • Tell you what data we have about you
  • Correct anything that’s wrong
  • Delete your information
  • Unsubscribe from emails

Just email us and we’ll take care of it, usually within a few days.

Kids

SimplyHA is not intended for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from kids. If you think your child signed up for our newsletter or sent us a contact form, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if our practices change. We’ll note the “Last updated” date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll mention it in a newsletter or on the site.
