The short version
Some of the links on SimplyHA are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. It doesn’t change the price. It just helps keep the site running.
That’s it. That’s the disclosure.
The slightly longer version
We write guides about Home Assistant, smart home hardware, and the weird constellation of devices that go with it. We recommend products we’ve either used ourselves or researched honestly. When we link to something on Amazon, the Home Assistant Store, a manufacturer’s site, or a retailer like Best Buy, that link sometimes carries a tracking code that tells the retailer we sent you.
If you end up buying, the retailer pays us a small percentage. You pay the normal price.
What this means for our recommendations
We take this seriously, because a site that recommends junk for commissions is useless.
- We don’t recommend things we wouldn’t buy ourselves. If a product is mediocre, we say so, or we leave it off the list.
- We don’t rank by commission. Our picks are ordered by what’s actually best for a beginner, not by what pays the most.
- We disclose when it matters. If a review is sponsored, paid, or otherwise influenced by a brand, we’ll say so clearly in the article itself.
Programs we participate in
SimplyHA is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
We may also participate in affiliate programs with other retailers that sell smart home hardware, including (but not limited to) the Home Assistant Store, AliExpress, eBay, Best Buy, and manufacturer direct-sales pages.
Questions?
If you spot a link you think is misleading, or you just want to ask about this policy, drop us a line via the contact page. We’d rather hear it than not.
